PUPPS? We Already Have a Dog!

Forgive me for posting one final reminder of the Father's Day Twitterview.

The Twitterview will take place Friday, June 17th @ 2pm Eastern time.

You can follow the hash-tag #tvFD (representing Twitterview for Father’s Day) at this link: http://twitter.com/#!/search/%23tvFD.  Also, RESOLVE will post the full transcript on MyDestinationFamily.org later that day when the Twitterview is over.  Also, if you go to the RESOLVE.org page you can watch the dialogue between me and RESOLVE that way, as RESOLVE will re-tweet the discussion.

You all remember Luke the Dog, right?  Sweet natured fluffy white thing with a few rust spots?  We had our puppy.  What did we need with PUPPS?!?!

As it is written in Medscape.com:

  • Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) is a benign dermatosis that usually arises late in the third trimester of a first pregnancy.
What?
Put simply, PUPPS is a nasty rash that pregnant women get as if they didn't have enough to deal with.  JK was allowed to share in this wonder of pregnancy too.

Sometimes I wonder if Loki (the Norse Trickster God) rules in heaven.  If he does, we are all going to need a BIG sense of humor, and quickly.

JK tried every remedy in the book: Pine Tar Soap, 1% Hydrocortisone, Aveeno Oatmeal Bath (applied as a poultice to the affected area), and more.  In the end, only Vitamin E Cream brought her relief.  She did maintain the oatmeal poultice as a once a day thing.

PUPPS will not do a woman lasting harm, but itches like crazy and is generally torture.  Cruel and unusual punishment.

Poor JK had been punished quite enough thank you!

The PUPPS eventually went away in its own time (perhaps 2-3 months later).  But Loki still had tricks in his satchel for my beloved JK.
